Japan made its very first investment in the Port of Douala-Bonabéri years back in the days of the National Port Office of Cameroon ONPC by financing the modernization projects of the Container terminal thanks to a 6 billion loan granted in 1988. The loan enabled the container terminal to be equipped with modern infrastructure and superstructures.
